Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has inaugurated the construction of 70 kilometers of roads across ten communities within the state’s three senatorial districts.
The launch ceremony was held at Rijiyar Gwangwan and Mil Goma in the Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area.
Governor Yusuf’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, detailed in a press release that the Rijiyar Gwangwan and Mil Goma locations will receive 14.7km of the total 70km road network.
These projects are part of a collaboration with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the Lives & Livelihood Fund (LLF) through the Kano State Agro-pastoral Development Project (KSADP) under the Kano State Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (KNARDA).
Governor Yusuf emphasized his administration’s commitment to delivering transformative infrastructure projects that enhance rural communities’ quality of life in Kano State.
The initiative involves an investment of over eleven billion naira for the rural access roads and networks in semi-urban areas.
Specifically, the projects in Dawakin Kudu will include a 7.2km rural access road from Mil Goma to Yankatsari and a 7.5km road network in Rijiyar Gwangwan, with a combined cost of two billion, six hundred million naira (N2.6b).
The Governor’s statement underscored the importance of these road projects in boosting local economies and improving connectivity within the state.
