The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has assured President Bola Tinubu that the Presidential Committee on Implementation of Livestock Reforms will exceed his expectations.
Ganduje expressed confidence that the committee would bring relief to Nigerians affected by the farmers-herders crisis.
Speaking at the inauguration of the committee at the Presidential Villa in Abuja yesterday, Ganduje commended the president for approving the initiative.
“We will surpass your expectations and bring succour to Nigerians. Once again, we thank the President,” Ganduje stated.
The committee is tasked with addressing obstacles to agricultural productivity and creating new opportunities for farmers, herders, processors, and distributors within the livestock-farming value chain.
The committee’s report on livestock reforms was submitted to the president on September 28, 2023.
Among its recommendations, the National Livestock Reforms Committee suggested that President Tinubu establish a “Ministry of Livestock Resources” to help mitigate the long-standing conflicts between farmers and nomadic cattle herders nationwide.
