The National Agency for Great Green Wall (NAGGW) recently marked its World Day by planting 400 trees in Janguza Barracks, Kano. This initiative, led by Major Haruna Idris, underscores NAGGW’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
Dr. Yusuf Maina-Bukar, Director General and Chief Executive Officer of NAGGW, highlighted the agency’s focus on promoting clean cooking technologies such as stoves and cylinders.
This effort aligns with the 2024 Great Green Wall Day and supports the Renewed Hope Agenda’s goals on Compressed Natural Gas, Liquified Petroleum Gas, and other clean cooking methods aimed at combating degradation and climate change.
Mrs. Pauline Sule, Head of Information and Corporate Communications, emphasized that NAGGW’s directors and field officers have been actively engaging communities to ensure the efficient distribution of these cooking technologies.
The fruit-bearing trees, including mangoes and oranges, were planted through a partnership with Dutch collaborator Mr. Wout Hoff, further enhancing NAGGW’s environmental initiatives in the region.
