Kano Business Community Forms Ad Hoc Security Committee for Nationwide Protest

Kano State Business Community has formed an ad hoc security operations committee to address security concerns across markets and business areas during the upcoming nationwide protest.

Under the leadership of Alhaji Sabi’u Bako, an emergency meeting was called with representatives from major markets and supermarkets in Kano.

The 20-member committee was inaugurated at a meeting with prominent businessmen and Alhaji Bature Abdul Aziz, Chairman of the National Harmonized Traders Union.

Alhaji Balarabe Tatari, Chairman of the Kantin Kwari Market Traders Association, urged youths to avoid actions that could disrupt the peaceful environment in the state. He noted that while the protest is expected to be peaceful, measures are needed to prevent potential looting and property damage.

He emphasized that youths should avoid violence and engage in dialogue to maintain order in Kano.

Alhaji Hamisu Saadu Dogon Nama, Managing Director of the Kantin Kwari Textile Market Management Board, stated that the meeting aimed to discuss strategies to protect the markets.

Similarly, Alhaji Abdullahi, Managing Director of Sabon Gari Galadima and Singa Markets, called on the public, especially youths, to act in the best interest of Kano and work together for the state’s benefit.

He also noted that they have contacted the Nigeria Police Force, local security, and other stakeholders to ensure security around the markets.
