The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State has warned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) against any attempts to manipulate the upcoming local government election results.
The warning came during the presentation of the APC’s candidates for the local government elections scheduled for Saturday, August 17, 2024.
At the campaign flag-off, the acting Chairman of the APC in Bauchi State, Mohammed Hassan Tilde, expressed concerns over alleged plans by the PDP to influence the electoral process.
“We in the APC are fully prepared to counter any manipulative efforts by the ruling party,” Tilde said, emphasizing the party’s readiness to defend the integrity of the elections.
Tilde also urged BASIEC to maintain neutrality and cautioned APC members assigned to electoral duties to be vigilant in safeguarding the party’s votes.
Tilde revealed that the APC has fielded candidates for all 20 chairmanship positions and 323 councilorship seats in the state and expressed confidence in the party’s prospects.
Senator Shehu Buba Umar, representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, also voiced confidence in the APC’s chances, provided BASIEC conducts free, fair, and credible elections.
He described the upcoming local government elections as the start of a larger political contest as the state looks ahead to the 2027 general elections.
