Kekere-Ekun Recommended as Nigeria’s Next CJN by NJC

The National Judicial Council (NJC) has recommended Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointment as the next Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

This decision was made during the NJC’s 106th meeting, held on Thursday and presided over by the outgoing CJN, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.

Justice Ariwoola is set to retire on August 22, upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 70.

In addition to this recommendation, the NJC also proposed 27 candidates for appointment as judges of state courts and one candidate for appointment as Kadi of the Sharia Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
