The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced an increase in the fees for obtaining a Nigerian passport.
DCI Kenneth Udo, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), revealed this in a statement on Wednesday, noting that the new fees will take effect from September 1, 2024.
He explained that the adjustment aims to uphold the quality and integrity of the Nigerian passport.
According to the statement, the cost of a 32-page passport booklet with a five-year validity will rise from N35,000 to N50,000. Additionally, the 64-page passport booklet with a 10-year validity, previously priced at N70,000, will now be N100,000 as of September 1.
“However, the fees remain unchanged in Diaspora,” he added.
While acknowledging any inconvenience the change may cause to applicants, the NIS reassured citizens of its ongoing commitment to transparency and high-quality service delivery.
