Kano State Launches N2.5 Billion Irrigation Project to Boost Agriculture

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, visited the Kafinchiri Irrigation Project in Garko Local Government Area.

The N2.5 billion project is intended to support year-round farming and enhance food security in the region.

The Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, disclosed this on Sunday.

During the visit, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf highlighted the importance of the Kafinchiri Irrigation Project for continuous agricultural production in Kano State.

He encouraged residents of Garko and neighboring communities to utilize the project to improve their socio-economic conditions.

“The Kafinchiri Irrigation Project is a vital component of our efforts to boost year-round farming and secure the food supply chain in Kano State. I urge the people of Garko to take full advantage of this initiative to enhance their livelihoods and contribute to our collective prosperity,” Governor Yusuf stated.

The Governor also announced the revocation of the contract for the Garko Local Government five-kilometer road project due to the contractor’s failure to mobilize to the site. He assured that a new contractor would be appointed soon to complete the project.

Additionally, Governor Yusuf committed to establishing a modern health facility in Garko town.
