Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 16th Emir of Kano, has expressed his determination to address the ongoing Fulani crises in Nigeria and seeks a lasting resolution for the challenges faced by the Fulani community.
The Emir has called on the Federal Government to fully support his efforts, emphasizing that while he possesses the ideas and strategies needed to resolve the crises, the government’s backing is crucial for these initiatives to succeed.
During a visit from the leadership of Tapital Pulaku Njode Jam Nigeria, a Fulani organization with members across all 36 states, the group pledged their allegiance to the Emir.
The group’s leader, Modibbo Ibrahim Buba Jada, expressed confidence in the Emir’s capacity to restore the reputation of the Fulani people and set the record straight.
Emir Sanusi underscored the urgent need for a permanent solution to the Fulani crises, pointing to the ongoing violence, killings, and cattle rustling as critical issues. He acknowledged that while some Fulanis have been involved in criminal activities, this should not lead to the condemnation of the entire Fulani population.
The Emir also emphasized the importance of government partnership in addressing the crises, particularly the conflicts between Fulanis and farmers, and in preventing further criminal activities.
He reaffirmed his personal commitment to working with the government to achieve peace and prosperity for both Fulanis and other Nigerians, insisting that the suffering of his people must end.
The Fulani group assured the Emir of their support, with their leader stating that their members, both in the cities and in the rural areas, stand ready to back the Emir’s mission.
