Former President Olusegun Obasanjo visited Katsina State to offer condolences following the passing of Hajiya Dada Musa Yar’adua, mother of former President Umaru Musa Yar’adua.
He was received at Umaru Musa Yar’adua International Airport by Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, alongside Murtala Shehu Yar’adua, grandson of the deceased and former Minister of State for Defense, as well as Inuwa Baba, former Chief of Protocol to President Obasanjo.
The delegation proceeded to the Yar’adua family residence, where Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, representing Katsina Zone, welcomed the former president and the governor, accompanied by businessman Dahiru Barau Mangal.
Chief Obasanjo remembered Hajiya Dada Yar’adua as a caring mother, praising her hospitality and kindness. He prayed for her, asking Almighty Allah to forgive her shortcomings.
He also spoke about his long-standing relationship with the Yar’adua family and the lasting impact of Hajiya Dada’s generosity and warmth.
Governor Radda thanked Obasanjo for his visit, stating, “We are deeply touched by Your Excellency’s gesture of solidarity during this time of mourning.”
The visit underscored the respect and esteem the Yar’adua family holds across Nigeria’s political spectrum.
