Dan’uwa Rano TV, a newly established online platform, was launched today, marking a significant development in broadcasting for Kano, Northern Nigeria, and beyond.
Founded by Ibrahim Ishaq Dan’uwa Rano, a veteran journalist, the platform aims to provide a diverse range of content and enhance communication with its audience.
During his welcome address, Ibrahim Dan’uwa Rano remarked, “Our mission is clear: to deliver truthful, unbiased, and engaging content that reflects the realities of our society. We believe in the power of media to inform, educate, and inspire, and Dan’uwa Rano TV is poised to serve the people of Kano and beyond with dedication and professionalism.”
The event was attended by media professionals, academics, and journalists. Among them, Professor Abdullah Uba Adamu from Bayero University’s Department of Mass Communication noted, “Dan’uwa has always had a unique voice in broadcasting, a voice that commands respect. His ability to convey messages with clarity is unmatched.”
Dr. Sa’idu Ahmed Dukawa, Senior Lecturer and former Head of the Department of Public Administration at Bayero University, advised Dan’uwa to prioritize ethics in his work.
He emphasized, “Dan’uwa, you are now independent; the journey ahead requires steadfastness. As the elders say, ‘Integrity is the shield that protects a man’s honor.'”
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Abdul-Majeed Al Mustapha, popularly known as Dan-Bilki Kwamanda, recalled an incident when Dan’uwa was suspended by his former employer for standing by his principles.
He remarked, “In this field, it’s not about how much you’re praised; it’s about how much you’re willing to stand for what is right. The truth is like the sun; you can’t cover it forever.”
Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Chief Press Secretary to the Kano State Government, recounted Dan’uwa’s early days at Freedom Radio Kano in 2008.
“He started as an apprentice, but even then, his passion was evident. As they say, ‘A tree that bears fruit will always have stones thrown at it.’ Dan’uwa faced many challenges, but his resilience has brought him here today.”
The event drew attendance from notable figures, including Aliyu Mai Kasuwa, Abubakar Dangambo of Radio France International, and many friends and well-wishers.
