Kachalla Tukur Sharme, a bandit leader, has been killed in a shootout with a rival gang in the forests of Kaduna State.

According to the state’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, Sharme and several of his gang members were killed during the clash.

The incident occurred over the weekend in the Rijana and Kaso Forests, spanning Kachia, Chikun, and Kajuru Local Government Areas. The clash was a result of a longstanding rivalry between the two groups.

“Sharme met his end in a battle with a rival gang,” Aruwan said. “His death impacts banditry in the state.”

The commissioner also noted that several kidnapped victims were able to escape during the chaos of the clash. Five other bandits were injured in the shootout and are believed to be hiding in the area.
