Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has adopted 95 orphans in a heartwarming display of compassion.
This gesture was made during a special luncheon with the children, who are currently residing in the state orphanage after the loss of their biological parents.
The luncheon was part of the events commemorating the 2024 Independence Day anniversary in Kano.
In a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Mr. Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf declared that he would assume full responsibility for the 95 orphans.
“I want to announce that we have assumed full responsibility for all 95 orphans domiciled in this facility. We will take care of their education from primary to tertiary, healthcare services, feeding, and other social needs throughout my tenure,” the Governor said.
Governor Yusuf emphasized that the children would be treated as very important individuals, ensuring they receive care, benefits, and privileges throughout his time in office. He also stated that the state government would provide opportunities for the children to reach their full potential.
The orphanage, established 54 years ago, witnessed this unprecedented act of generosity from Governor Yusuf, who spent quality time with the vulnerable children.
“You are now my children, and I will take care of you as my own. You will begin to feel the good side of life, Insha Allah,” the Governor assured them.
The statement further noted that the Governor donated food items worth millions of naira to support the welfare, safety, and food security of the orphans.
