Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining good governance and ensuring the equitable distribution of resources in Kano.
The governor made this pledge during the Independence Anniversary celebrations at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, as part of the match-past parade.
In a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf expressed that the NNPP administration is dedicated to improving lives, fostering inclusive growth, and creating a society where every citizen can achieve their full potential.
He acknowledged the formidable challenges posed by economic pressures, social inequality, insecurity, and other socio-economic instabilities but emphasized that his government remains undeterred, striving to build a better society for the people of Kano.
Governor Yusuf highlighted the significance of Nigeria’s independence anniversary, which calls for reflection on the courage of the nationalists and forefathers who fought for the country’s liberation from British colonial rule.
“We will forever appreciate the resilience and sacrifices of the likes of Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Sir Ahmadu Bello, Mallam Aminu Kano, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Chief Nnamdi Azikiwe, and many others,” he said.
The governor also took the opportunity to outline the achievements of his administration in education, healthcare services, agriculture, water supply, infrastructure, women and youth empowerment, and environmental sustainability.
He praised the state’s civil service for their dedication and assured that his administration is ready to review the recommendations of the committee on the New Minimum Wage once presented, ensuring timely implementation.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf expressed optimism that with collective dedication and shared responsibility, Nigeria can realize its full potential and improve the standard of living for its citizens.
