Kukasheka, the hometown of retired Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman, was attacked by armed bandits on Sunday in Kankara Local Government Area, Katsina State.
Reports indicate that the assailants shot and killed five individuals, including Abubakar, the brother of the former Nigerian Army spokesperson, and abducted several others.
Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene as residents fled for safety amidst the gunfire. This incident underscores the escalating insecurity in the region, as communities continue to face threats from armed groups.
An anonymous source expressed concern over the rising violence in Katsina, highlighting the urgent need for improved security measures to protect vulnerable communities.
“This incident is just one of many that highlight the perilous situation we are facing in Katsina state. Immediate action is required to ensure the safety of our people,” the source stated in an exclusive comment to Kano Times.
As of the time of this report, the Katsina State Police Command had not commented on the incident, and efforts to reach the state police public relations officer, ASP Aliyu Abubakar Sadiq, were unsuccessful.
