Petroleum marketers have announced plans to meet with the Department of State Services (DSS) on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, to discuss the price and availability of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol).
The President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) disclosed this in an interview on Monday.
Although he didn’t provide specific details about the agenda, he noted that the meeting will focus on issues related to petrol pump prices and its availability to oil marketers.
“Wednesday, I have a meeting with the Department of State Services. It is about the petrol pump price. Anywhere IPMAN is involved, it is about the issue of petrol and its availability to members,” he said.
When pressed for more details on the meeting, he added, “Until we go there, I will brief you after the meeting.”
This development comes as Nigerians are currently purchasing fuel at prices ranging from N950 to N1,200 or more across the country.
On Monday, it was reported that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) had stepped down from its role as the sole off-taker of Dangote Petrol. In September, Dangote Refinery began the distribution of petrol on the same day the NNPCL increased pump prices.
