The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has called on Nigerians to pray for their leaders, regardless of the challenges the country is facing.
Speaking at an event held yesterday at the University of Ilorin, the Sultan emphasized the importance of offering prayers rather than cursing or condemning leaders, suggesting that such prayers could lead to positive outcomes.
“Even if a leader is bad, pray for him. Almighty Allah can make him turn a new leaf and become a better person,” Abubakar stated.
He encouraged the public to adopt a more supportive stance toward leadership, emphasizing the potential for national progress when citizens work in harmony with their leaders.
The event drew several prominent figures, including the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), and the Secretary-General of KU8+, Professor Francisca Oladipo.
Fagbemi, who chaired the event, echoed the Sultan’s views, urging Nigerians to focus on supporting their leaders instead of constant criticism.
