The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) announced that it has generated N4.2 billion in revenue during the first nine months of 2024.
This was disclosed by the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, during a workshop in Lagos on Saturday.
Adeniyi, represented by Dera Nnadi, the Comptroller of the Tincan Island Port Command, noted that the service has already surpassed its revenue figures for 2022 and 2023.
Adeniyi emphasized that the NCS is on track to exceed its 2024 revenue target of N5.3 trillion by the end of the year.
“We have already surpassed our 2023 collection by over N1 trillion, even though the year is not yet over. This highlights the significant progress we have made by leveraging digital technology,” he said.
He further stated, “In 2022, the Service collected N2.6 trillion in revenue. The steady progress we are making is due to the deployment of digitalization, ICT, and innovation in our business processes.”
It is worth noting that Nigeria’s total revenue for 2023, according to the Federal Inland Revenue Service, stood at N12.37 trillion.
