Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II has called on the people of Kano State to reject manipulation as instruments of violence ahead of the local government elections scheduled for Saturday.
Addressing journalists, the Emir voiced serious concerns about potential unrest, referencing the violent outbreaks during the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests, which led to significant property destruction and numerous fatalities.
“Those who truly love Kano will agree that the preservation of peace and harmony cannot be quantified,” he said, highlighting that those inciting violence often come from outside the community and have ulterior motives to destabilize the city.
To encourage a peaceful electoral process, the Emir has directed Imams, District Heads, and community leaders to promote calm and ensure the elections proceed without incident.
He concluded with a plea to those considering violence, urging them to reconsider their actions for the greater good of Kano.
