Kano State Government has announced an 18-hour movement restriction from 12:00 midnight to 6:00 PM on Saturday for the local government elections scheduled for October 26.
This decision follows consultations with security agencies to ensure the safety of the electoral process.
In a statement on Friday, Baba Halilu Dantiye, Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, urged the public to adhere to the restrictions.
Dantiye emphasized the importance of public cooperation in maintaining order during the electoral period.
The movement restrictions will affect individuals and vehicles across all 44 local government areas and 484 electoral wards in Kano State.
According to the statement, this measure is intended to enhance security and prevent potential disruptions.
Exemptions to the movement ban apply to individuals involved in official election duties and those providing essential services.
Dantiye stated, “Adherence to the movement restrictions is vital for the overall safety of the elections.”
As citizens prepare to vote, the Kano State Government calls for cooperation from all residents.
