Abuja: 40 People Feared Trapped After Construction Site Collapse

By Gloria Robert, Abuja

At least 40 people are trapped after a building collapsed on Saturday in the Sabon Lugbe area of Abuja, Federal Capital Territory.

Eyewitnesses report that the structure, still under construction, suddenly crumbled, burying dozens under the rubble.

Emergency responders and local residents are at the scene, working to rescue those caught in the debris.

“People are under this rubble. It is a building under construction. We are calling on the government and relevant agencies to come and rescue those who are trapped here,” a resident said.

This incident follows a similar case earlier in October, where four people were rescued after part of a two-storey residential building collapsed in Abuja near Cupid Hotel on Sultan Dasuki Way in Kubwa.

A few weeks prior, another collapse at Praco Limited Estate in Guzape claimed the lives of several workers.
