Nigerian social media personality Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has been released from Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) custody, where he denied allegations of bribery connected to a viral audio recording.
The recording, purportedly featuring Bobrisky’s voice, suggested he paid a N15 million bribe to EFCC officials to dismiss money laundering charges.
Bobrisky was detained late Thursday at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport while attempting to board a KLM flight to Amsterdam, ultimately bound for London.
Following his arrest, Bobrisky informed his followers on social media that he sustained injuries during the incident. He was then transferred to EFCC headquarters in Abuja, where he was interrogated regarding the bribery allegations linked to the audio recording.
Social commentator Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, shared the recording, which allegedly features Bobrisky claiming to have paid EFCC officials to evade prosecution for money laundering.
During the interrogation, however, Bobrisky firmly denied the allegations, insisting he never paid any bribe and challenging Otse to substantiate the recording’s authenticity.
