The Kano Peace Committee (KPC) has urged the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Kano State Branch, to reconsider its plan for a mass action following an alleged assault incident involving Hajiya Amina Abdullahi Sani, the Kano State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, and a female doctor.
In a statement by its Convener, Ambassador Ibrahim Waiya, the KPC expressed concern over the situation and encouraged the NMA to await the outcome of an investigative committee set up by the Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf.
“The Kano Peace Committee is troubled by the incident,” Waiya stated. “We share the NMA’s concerns and acknowledge the efforts they make to serve Kano’s residents.”
The KPC emphasized the need for cooperation between the NMA and government agencies, asking the association to delay any mass action until the committee completes its investigation.
“We appeal to the NMA to hold off on mass action in consideration of Kano State’s citizens,” Waiya added.
