Kano Governor Vows to Replace Underperforming Cabinet Members

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has announced that underperforming members of his cabinet will be replaced. Confirming the receipt of a committee report on cabinet performance, the Governor indicated that the public will soon be informed about the government’s next steps.

In a live radio interview at the Government House on Wednesday, Governor Yusuf reiterated his commitment to a cabinet reshuffle, emphasizing that none of the current commissioners were appointed through lobbying.

He stressed that their selection was based on experience, credibility, and consultation.4The Governor expressed his expectations for commissioners to remain loyal to him, the NNPP, and the Kwankwasiyya Movement, while showing dedication and introducing initiatives to advance the state’s development.

Addressing poverty alleviation, Governor Yusuf highlighted that the state has been distributing food to urban and rural communities to help ease the burden from the recent removal of petroleum subsidies, adding that this initiative will continue to support vulnerable citizens.

He also shared plans to enhance food production by upgrading KASCO, the state’s fertilizer production company, to meet the needs of farmers.

Further emphasizing his focus on women and youth, Governor Yusuf revealed that his administration provides monthly stipends of N50,000 to 52,000 women and youth across the state to support small businesses and promote self-reliance.
