The Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusif Abdullahi Ata, has urged Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to refrain from making statements that could deepen divisions in the country.
This statement comes in response to Kwankwaso’s remarks alleging interference from Lagos in the selection of Kano’s Emir.
Ata noted that the issue of the Kano Emirate is still pending in court, warning that Kwankwaso’s comments might be perceived as contempt of court.
Kano Times reports that during the convocation ceremony at Skyline University in Kano, Senator Kwankwaso stated, “Today, we can see very clearly there is a lot of effort from the Lagos axis to polarize this part of the country… Lagos wouldn’t allow us to choose our Emir.”
Ata’s remarks underscore the need for leaders to act responsibly to foster unity.
