A former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, has stated that Nigerians are eager to show President Bola Ahmed Tinubu the exit door in the 2027 presidential election, citing ongoing economic hardship.
George made the statement on Thursday in a message marking his 79th birthday in Lagos.
He emphasized that for the PDP to oust the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), party members must unite and eliminate divisive tendencies.
He pointed out that the crisis within the opposition party stemmed from the self-interest of some members, leading the party towards destruction.
“If we want to win the 2027 presidential election, we should not allow ourselves to be divided, and those with divisive tendencies should be told in clear language that ‘Enough is Enough.’
“With the suffering in the land and the mismanagement of the economy, Nigerians are waiting for us in 2027 to kick APC out of Aso Rock,” he said.
Meanwhile, PDP chieftain and former spokesman for Atiku Abubakar, Segun Sowunmi, recently accused Tinubu of being the root cause of the party’s problems.
The PDP is currently facing internal struggles following a prolonged leadership crisis.
The party plans to hold its 99th National Executive Committee meeting on November 28, 2024.
