The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has given 1,000 motorcycles to the Kano State Police Command to aid security and operational efficiency in the state.
The handover took place on Saturday at the command’s headquarters in Bompai, Kano.
The donation is intended to help police officers patrol remote areas and respond quickly to emergencies, strengthening the state’s security.
Senator Barau, who represents Kano North, acknowledged the police force’s work in ensuring safety. “Your efforts to safeguard our communities are appreciated, and this is one way to equip you to perform better,” he said.
The Senator also mentioned plans to extend the initiative to the entire state, with additional motorcycles for Kano Central and South senatorial zones in the coming months.
“This is just the beginning. We have prioritized Kano North for now, but the next phase will cover other zones to ensure all officers in the state are equipped,” he added.
Kano State Commissioner of Police, Salman Dogo Garba, thanked the Senator for the donation, calling it a boost for the force.
He assured the public that the motorcycles would be used to combat crime and maintain peace in the state.
The donation is part of efforts to maintain security in Kano through collaboration between security agencies and community stakeholders.
