The Kano State Executive Council has approved over N7.7 billion for various infrastructure development projects across the state.
The approval was announced in a statement by Governor Abba Yusuf’s spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa, on Saturday in Kano.
The decision was made during the 21st meeting of the Executive Council, which was presided over by Governor Abba Yusuf.
Commissioner for Information, Baba Dantiye, explained that the approved funds would be allocated to several key projects.
He listed some of the projects, including over N1.89 billion allocated for the construction of the Tudun Yola off Gwarzo Road to Dansudu Bypass in Ungogo Local Government Area.
He also noted that approximately N1.84 billion was earmarked for the review of rates for the expansion of Zaria Road, specifically from Silver Jubilee to the Dantata and Sawoe axis.
Mr. Dantiye revealed that N1 billion had been set aside for the upward review of the contract for the underground electrification of the Kwankwasiyya City project.
Additionally, he stated, “N599.64 million was approved for the installation of solar-powered street lights along the five-kilometer dualized road in Gezawa Local Government Area.”
Other projects that received approval include the construction of the Rijiyar Lemon Road network, the rehabilitation of the Eastern Bypass, and maintenance work on the Airport Road.
The Governor expressed gratitude to the people of the state for their support and cooperation, which have enabled the administration to design these developmental projects for their benefit.
