Ex-Military Personnel Protest in Abuja Over Unpaid Pensions

Retired military personnel from the Coalition of Concerned Veterans (CCV) protested in Abuja on Wednesday over the non-payment of their pensions and other outstanding entitlements.

The ex-servicemen disrupted activities at the Federal Ministry of Finance in the Federal Secretariat, playing music and displaying banners with various messages.

Among their demands were the non-payment of a 28% pension increase since January, unpaid three-month palliative, and the N32,000 flat rate added to their pensions since July.

The protesters also called for the bulk SDA payments to be made according to a new template, regardless of retirement year, and for the Veterans’ Affairs Bill (VFN) to be reviewed and passed in line with global best practices, among other concerns.

One of the ex-servicemen appealed for intervention from President Bola Tinubu to address the delay in pension payments.
