El-Mu’az Birniwa’s Death Shocks Kannywood Community

Hausa singer El-Mu’az Muhammad Birniwa, a prominent figure in the Kannywood industry, has passed away.

The news was confirmed by Abba El-Mustapha, Executive Secretary of the Kano State Censorship Board, in a Facebook post early Thursday morning.

According to reports, El-Mu’az collapsed while playing football in Kaduna on Wednesday and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.4The funeral prayer is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Zangon Daura mosque in Kaduna.

El-Mu’az Muhammad, originally from Birniwa in Jigawa State, was widely known for his significant contributions to the Kannywood industry.

Kannywood personalities have expressed their condolences. Ali Nuhu, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC), described his passing as a great loss to the entertainment industry, saying, “El-Mu’az was a brother and a talent that will be deeply missed.”

Producer and Director Falalu Dorayi expressed, “His work will always be remembered. He was a true professional who touched many lives through his craft.”

Aminu Ladan Abubakar also sent his heartfelt sympathy to the family, remarking, “The void he leaves behind will be hard to fill, but his legacy will live on in his music and contributions to the industry.”
