Cargo Aircraft Crash-Lands at Abuja Airport

An Allied Air cargo aircraft with registration number 5N-JRT crash-landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) in Abuja.

The incident occurred on Wednesday at approximately 10:05 a.m. and was attributed to the failure of one of its landing gears.

The mishap involved an E-Cargo aircraft carrying six crew members, all of whom were promptly evacuated and are currently undergoing medical assessments at the 063 Nigerian Air Force (NAF) medical unit.

Emergency responders swiftly secured the crash site, cordoning off the area under the supervision of the Military Airport Commandant (MAC) and other relevant agencies.

The airport’s runway has been temporarily closed as a result, causing significant delays to inbound and outbound flights. Passengers and airlines have been advised to expect disruptions until further notice.

Airport authorities and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) are working to remove the disabled aircraft and inspect the runway for any potential damage.
