Katsina State Police Command has arrested Aminu Hassan, a suspected terrorism financier, accused of aiding armed bandits in Danmusa Local Government Area and surrounding communities.
According to the Command’s spokesman, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the 25-year-old suspect from Dundubus village in Danja Local Government Area was apprehended during a routine patrol along Yan-tumaki and Kankara highway on November 19th.
“The arrest is part of the Command’s major breakthroughs in combating terrorism, kidnapping, and banditry in the state,” Sadiq noted.
Police reports revealed that Hassan was found with two pairs of military uniforms concealed in a black polythene bag.
Further investigations led to the arrest of three other suspects: Lawal M. Ahmad (29), Isma’il Dalhatu (24), and Shafi’u Adamu (28), all residents of Kaduna State.
Recovered exhibits included 14 pairs of military uniforms and one police uniform believed to have been intended for bandits’ criminal operations.
“The suspects confessed during interrogation and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation,” Sadiq said.
The Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar Musa, praised the operatives for their professionalism and urged the public to provide actionable intelligence to aid the fight against banditry.
In a related development, the Command arrested seven suspected rapists on November 25th following a report at the Kaita Divisional Police Headquarters.
The suspects, identified as Salisu Ibrahim, Sabiu Abdulkarim, Nuhu Halliru, Rabe Malam, Hamza Abdullahi, Iliyasu Ibrahim, and Idris Abdullahi, were accused of luring four minors, aged 13-14, to the residence of one of the suspects for sexual exploitation.
“Detectives investigated and arrested the suspects, who confessed to the crime. They will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation,” Sadiq stated.
