The Kano State Police Command has expressed concern over a growing trend of young individuals obstructing highways and engaging in disruptive activities for social media content.
These activities, including dancing, singing, and other stunts, are causing traffic disruptions and endangering public safety.
In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Command described the trend as a breach of public order and a violation of Nigerian laws.
“Obstructing highways and disrupting public order are serious offenses under the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. These actions can lead to accidents, injuries, and damage to property,” the statement said.
The police advised parents and guardians to prevent their wards from engaging in such activities. “Parents and guardians are urged to caution their wards against these dangerous and unlawful behaviors,” the Command added.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, warned that offenders would face legal consequences. “We will arrest and prosecute individuals or groups engaging in these unlawful acts,” CP Garba said.
The Command urged residents to report incidents of highway obstruction or public disruptions to the nearest police station or through the emergency numbers provided.
