The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kano Zonal Directorate, has arraigned Sanusi Hashim before Justice Kabiru Dabo of the Kaduna State High Court sitting in Zaria over allegations of misappropriation and conversion of N108 million for personal use.
According to the EFCC, Hashim allegedly received N108 million from Ahmad Mohammad Liman and Basiru Mohammad for the supply of fertilizer but failed to deliver the product, instead diverting the funds for personal purposes.
The charge against him states: “That you, Sanusi Hashim, sometime in April 2020 under the jurisdiction of the Kaduna State High Court, dishonestly misappropriated and converted to your own use the sum of One Hundred and Eight Million Naira (N108,000,000), property of Ahmad Mohammad Liman and Basiru Mohammad, for the supply of fertilizer from Indorama Eleme Fertilizer and Chemicals, thereby committing an offence under Section 293 and punishable under Section 294 of the Penal Code.”
When the charge was read to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty.
Prosecution counsel Bright C. Ogbonna requested a trial date following the defendant’s plea.
Justice Kabiru Dabo subsequently remanded Hashim in a Correctional Centre and adjourned the case to February 10, 2025, for the hearing of the bail application.
