Borno Police Foil Potential Explosion, Recover Ordnance

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Borno State have successfully averted a potential explosion by recovering three projectiles in Maiduguri, the state capital.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Nahum Daso, confirmed the recovery in a statement on Thursday, detailing the swift response of the police.

“On 2nd January 2025, at about 0925HRS, following a report from one Asabe James of Dala Kafanti Area, Maiduguri – Borno State, who alerted the command to a suspicious sack containing unidentified items behind her house, the Command EOD-CBRN Base 13 Maiduguri swiftly moved to the scene. The area was cordoned off and swept, leading to the recovery of three (3) projectiles in the sack,” Daso stated.

He added that preliminary investigations revealed the ordnance had been dropped by unknown persons early that morning.

The police also took the opportunity to educate community members on Explosive Ordnance Risk Awareness (EORE) and necessary safety measures.
