Bandits Attack Katsina Hospital, Shoot Doctor, Abduct Five

A group of terrorists, commonly referred to as bandits, attacked the General Hospital in Kankara town, Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, on Tuesday night.

During the attack, the bandits shot a medical doctor on duty, Dr. Murtala Sale Dandashire, and kidnapped at least five people from the hospital.

According to a source, Bakatsine, who shared the incident on his widely followed X page, the attack highlights the need for improved security in hospitals across the state.

Bakatsine wrote: “Yesterday night, bandits stormed Kankara General Hospital in Ƙankara LGA of Katsina State. They shot Dr. Murtala Sale Dandashire and abducted five people in the hospital.

“There is a need to improve security in the hospitals across Katsina State. Within the past three months, bandits have reportedly entered three hospitals: Kurfi General Hospital, Mai Tsani Hospital in Dutsin-ma LGA, and Kankara General Hospital.

“Dr. Murtala Saleh Dandashire, an indigene of Kankara LGA, is the best graduating medical student of the year 2019 from the Medical School of the prestigious ABU Zaria,” he added.

Efforts to reach the Katsina State Police Command spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, for comments were unsuccessful, as calls to his line went unanswered on Wednesday morning.
