The Kano State Ministry of Tourism and Culture has inaugurated an eleven-member committee to upgrade its framework and policies, aiming to revitalize the state’s tourism and cultural sector.
During the inauguration ceremony, Hajiya Aisha Lawan Saji Rano, the Commissioner for Tourism and Culture, highlighted the importance of the committee’s mission.
She stated, “By upgrading these key areas, we will not only enhance the functionality and efficiency of our institution but also position Kano State to tap into new revenue streams, attract foreign investments, and showcase its rich heritage on a global stage.”
The committee, chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Hajiya Kubra Imam, is tasked with aligning the ministry’s policies with global best practices while preserving Kano’s cultural heritage. Hajiya Kubra remarked, “This initiative is not just about policies; it’s about preserving our cultural heritage and instilling values in our younger generations.”
Ahmad Abba Yusuf, the Executive Secretary of the History and Culture Bureau, reflected on the ministry’s challenges over the past six years, stating, “The ministry has witnessed limited progress in recent years, but with the Commissioner’s commitment and the governor’s zeal for culture and tourism, I am confident we will achieve our goals.”
