The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed efforts by Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa to mediate a reconciliation between former governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and APC National Chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, labeling the move as a political ploy by Kwankwaso to return to the party.
Speaking during an interview with Hikima Radio in Kano, the APC State spokesperson, Ahmad S. Aruwa, accused Kwankwaso of attempting to destabilize the party’s structure by reclaiming control.
“Kwankwaso’s efforts to rejoin the APC are driven by his desire to take over the party and undermine its leadership. We cannot afford to align politically with someone who has betrayed us in the past,” Aruwa stated.
He further recalled how Kwankwaso allegedly forced former Kano governor Malam Ibrahim Shekarau to defect from the APC to the PDP and betrayed the trust of many during his tenure with the PDP.
Aruwa was particularly critical of Kofa’s role in the reconciliation efforts, dismissing him as unqualified to mediate between the two political heavyweights.
“Looking at how Kofa outlined the achievements and positions held by Kwankwaso and Ganduje, it becomes clear that he is too insignificant to mediate peace between the two,” Aruwa said.
The spokesperson added that if reconciliation were to take place, it should involve Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State,not Kofa.
