Re: Northerners have no moral right to reject Tinubu in 2027

I was both dumbfounded and gobsmacked that northern activists and other opposition parties remained silent without providing feedback to former Senator Shehu Sani, who allegedly insulted and belittled northerners using former President Buhari, despite the high population the region has in Nigeria.

My stupefaction wasn’t about his illogical criticism of Buhari, based on his personal views about the Buhari Administration. Rather, it was about how, as a northerner himself, his political biased statement directly belittled northerners in the eyes of the world. His claim that “Northerners have no moral right to vote out Tinubu in 2027 elections left me stunned.

I read the former Senator A to Z statement whom I consider him as vocal online communicator or Attention seeker that focuses on Matters that would generate controversy and promote himself.Even His attack towards former President Muhammad Buhari administration was both embellishment and full of biased, no matter how, you cannot tell the world that President Muhammad Buhari’s 8-year presidency was a complete failure, with nothing to show for it in Northern Nigeria.

For instance, if the current senator representing Kaduna Central, Senator Lawal Adamu Usman (Mr.LA), comes to Kaduna and organizes a press conference, repeating the exact statement about what you articulated to former President Muhammad Buhari to you as the former senator of the district, I know many people won’t believe him. Even his supporters will reply to him, and some may even call him a big liar. And his supporters will also want defend you. I think we should be very constructive in our criticism.

Morever, Shehu Sani’s Criticism and arrogant statement about Buhari’s government seemed lost in his thaugts during the interview because of his ego to attracts people’s attention, making him misremembered that if Buhari failed during his 8-years tenure, as he had previously stated, he will also be on the list to take credit for the failure. He forgot that Buhari is not only the one to be blame, but also applies to him. When President Muhammad Buhari elected in to the office of presidency in 2015, Shehu Sani was also elected in to Senate chamber in 2015.My questions is ; What contributions did Shehu Sani as law Maker propose to solve problems and implement beneficial policies for northern Nigeria as Senator from northern Nigeria ? How many bills did Shehu Sani sponsors that impacted Northern Nigeria during his leadership as a Senator from the north?

Back to What captivated my attention about the statement that triggered me to write this opinion is: ‘Northern has no moral right to vote out Tinubu in 2027 election. Shehu should know that, even if Buhari didn’t build a single infrastructure in northern Nigeria, it has no connection to the Northern people’s right to vote for their chosen candidate in 2027. May be distinguish senator Shehu Sani have forgotten that democratic system of government were not deeply concerned with moral rights, but rather constitutional rights and the Nigerian constitution guarantees citizens the right to vote according to their wishes.

I write this reply because Shehu Sani who is attempting to do what Psychologist refer to as “self-aggrandizement”by promoting Tinubu’s policies while belittling northerners in the eyes of the world. On November 12, 2024, I read news about his statement on National Dailies, where he articulated that the tax reform would serve the North interest and criticized those against saying they opposed it ‘blindly .

And for me, I wouldn’t shock about what he said because may be he lack the knowledge of Senator Ali Ndume educational background, who is known and strongly opposed the new policy that that most people strongly believed it will become a treat and harm to the northern people, Ndume had studied a course related to this Bill and even taught as a lecturer in Ramat Polytechnic before senator Shehu Sani pursued his studies in tertiary institution . However, By looking their educational backgrounds, who are we supposed to believe between Senator Ndume and Shehu Sani ?

If the former Senator Shehu Sani Want to aggrandizing himself and interested in being in the Tinubu cabinet, he should ask those people in the shoe to give him the kind of strategic maneuvers and hint they used to get themselves in the shoes of Tinubu, but belittling Northerners, just in the name – he’s vocal, it’s unacceptable and should be condemned.By getting feedback from Northerners.

On the Buhari Cabinet, my attention-seeker senator, Shehu Sani, is parading and talking about their failures. I can’t argue about that statement, but at that times, who is in the position and has a direct responsible to hold President Muhammadu Buhari accountable? Is it the poor man who is living in villages would hold those key officials accountable, or the senators and house representatives in Abuja who are there to do that?

It’s an undeniable fact and unvarnished truth that the 9th senate is one of the best senates in Nigeria, where the Senate President, Senator Bola Saraki, gave representatives the freedom to voice out their views, and even at that time, he didn’t allow the President to get much influence on his decisions. Where was attention-seeker senator Shehu Sani hiding at that time ?
