The Managing Director of the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority (HJRBDA), Engr. Rabiu Suleiman Bichi, acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for allocating N150 billion in the 2025 Appropriation Bill towards constructing a railway line in Kano City.
He described the project as a “testament to the President’s commitment to driving growth and development across the nation.”
“This ambitious project is poised to revolutionize transportation in Kano city, enhancing connectivity, facilitating trade, and boosting economic growth. The railway line will not only improve the quality of life for residents but also position Kano as a hub for commerce and industry,” Engr. Bichi stated.
The project, regarded as a transformative milestone, is one of the key infrastructure initiatives under the Tinubu administration. The 2025 budget also includes investments in healthcare infrastructure and revitalization of hospitals nationwide.
“The allocation for the Kano railway line is a significant addition to these efforts, showcasing the government’s dedication to transforming Nigeria’s infrastructure landscape,” he added.
Engr. Bichi also recognized the efforts of Hon. Abubakar Kabir Abubakar Bichi, the member representing Bichi Federal Constituency, for his contributions to developmental projects in the area. Additionally, he acknowledged the role of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the APC, in advocating for modern transportation in Kano.
“Your tenacity to provide modern transportation hubs in Kano by purchasing 100 high-capacity buses and a light rail project which you pursued at the Federal level has yielded the desired result,” Bichi remarked.
As Nigeria moves forward, Engr. Bichi expressed optimism about the country’s fiscal trajectory, citing the 2025 budget’s projection of generating N18.32 trillion in revenue and total government expenditure of N27.50 trillion.
“We look forward to witnessing the transformative impact of the Kano railway line on the city and its people,” he added.
