50-Year-Old Man Arrested for Allegedly Beating Wife to Death Over Ramadan Meal in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 50-year-old businessman, Alhaji Nuru Isah, for allegedly beating his 24-year-old wife, Wasila Abdullahi, to death during a domestic dispute over Ramadan meal preparations.

According to the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Wakili, the tragic incident occurred on March 1, 2025, at about 11:30 pm in the Fadamam Mada area, near Government Girls College, Bauchi.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that an argument ensued between the suspect and his wife over food ingredients and fruits for breaking their fast. The dispute escalated, and the suspect allegedly used a cane to assault her, leading to her collapse,” Wakili stated.

Neighbors rushed Wasila to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where doctors confirmed her dead on arrival.

“The suspect is in custody, and the cane used in the assault has been recovered as evidence. The victim’s body has been deposited in the mortuary pending an autopsy,” Wakili added.

The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Muhammad, condemned the incident, assuring the public that justice would be served.

“This is a tragic reminder of the dangers of domestic violence. We urge families to resolve conflicts peacefully and for residents to report any form of domestic abuse. Violence within the home is a crime with serious consequences,” Muhammad emphasized.
