The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the Nigeria Police Force has dismissed claims that the former Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), David Shikfu Parradang, was kidnapped and killed.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer of the FCT Command, clarified the circumstances surrounding Parradang’s death, urging the public to disregard earlier reports of a kidnapping and murder.
“In light of recent reports alleging that the retired officer was kidnapped and subsequently killed, we wish to clarify the facts surrounding this incident to ensure accurate information is disseminated to the public,” Adeh stated.
According to the police, Parradang died after receiving a female guest at a hotel in Abuja. “On March 3, 2025, at approximately 12:00 PM, Mr. Parradang arrived at Joy House Hotel, Area 3 Junction, driving a black Mercedes-Benz. He checked into the hotel, paying a sum of twenty-two thousand naira (N22,000) for one night’s stay. Shortly thereafter, he directed the hotel room attendant to escort a female guest who had come to visit him to his room. The lady left the hotel premises around 04:00 PM the same day,” Adeh explained.
The police revealed that Parradang did not leave his room after the guest departed. Concerned for his well-being, a friend who is a military officer traced him to the hotel the following morning.
“Around 04:00 AM on March 4, 2025, the officer, accompanied by the hotel receptionist, proceeded to his room, where Mr. Parradang was found deceased, seated in a chair,” Adeh said.
The Durumi Police Station was immediately notified, and officers secured the scene, collected evidence, and transferred the body to the National Hospital for further procedures.
“The body has been transferred to the National Hospital for necessary procedures, and hotel staff are currently cooperating with police investigations,” Adeh added.
Parradang, who served in the NIS for over 30 years, held various positions across the country, including Comptroller General. He was a respected figure in Nigeria’s security sector and played a pivotal role in shaping immigration policies during his tenure. His death has sparked widespread shock and calls for a thorough investigation.
Parradang’s legacy includes his national honor as an Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) and his distinguished graduation from the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS). He was also a senatorial candidate in the 2019 general election and a gubernatorial aspirant in Plateau State in 2023.
