An attack by armed bandits has left four members of the Community Watch Corps and an unconfirmed number of farmers dead in the Marmara community of Malumfashi Local Government Area, Katsina State.
The attack, which also injured several others, occurred on the outskirts of the community on Monday evening.
Security analyst Bakatsine disclosed the incident in a post on his X handle on Tuesday.
He wrote: “ALERT: Yesterday evening, bandits attacked farmers on the outskirts of Marmara community, Malumfashi LGA, Katsina State. Four CWC operatives aiding the farmers were killed, several farmers also killed, many others injured.”
The Katsina State Government has been engaging with armed groups in some communities through peace agreements.
Some groups in Jibia, Batsari, and DanMusa Local Government Areas have accepted the deal and surrendered their weapons.
However, the recent attack has raised new concerns among residents about the effectiveness and durability of these peace efforts.
