The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Strategic Command, has arrested 19 suspects during raids on four areas in Kano: Dorayi, Gwammanja, Zango, and Ja’en.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, the operation targeted known drug joints where individuals reportedly gather to consume illegal substances.
“Drug abuse is a primary enabler of many criminal activities, often serving as the catalyst for violence and disorder in our communities,” Maigatari said.
“This operation focused on dismantling drug joints where individuals gather to abuse substances before engaging in mindless thuggery and other unlawful activities,” he added.
Maigatari noted that the operation was carried out under the leadership of Commander CN AI Ahmad.
“The seizure of illicit substances and the apprehension of those involved highlight the agency’s determination to create a safer environment for all citizens,” he said.
He also urged residents to assist the agency by sharing information.
“The Command urges members of the community to continue their support by providing vital intelligence and reporting any suspicious activities. Together, we can strengthen our fight against drug abuse and trafficking,” Maigatari said.
