“We’re With You”—Supporters Flood Kano Streets, Drum Support for Gov. Yusuf’s Second Term

A large crowd of supporters gathered on Tuesday to welcome Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf back to Kano after his return from Saudi Arabia, where he served as the Amirul Hajj for the 2025 pilgrimage.

The crowd lined the streets from the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport to the Government House, chanting slogans including “Go Again AKY 4×2”, which has been associated with calls for Yusuf’s second term.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said, “A mammoth crowd of jubilant supporters on Tuesday lined the streets of Kano to welcome Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf upon his return from Saudi Arabia.”

According to Sunusi, the crowd included political associates, party members, youth groups, and cultural troupes. Supporters waved flags and carried banners with messages such as “Go Again AKY 4×2.”

The statement noted that major roads were decorated with posters and banners, and that there were displays by various cultural groups as the convoy moved through the city.

Governor Yusuf, reacting to the turnout, said, “I am humbled by this overwhelming show of love and support from our people. We remain committed to delivering on our promises—restoring infrastructure, revitalising our schools and hospitals, and ensuring no one is left behind in the journey of development.”

The reception adds to growing calls for the governor to seek a second term, with campaign messages continuing to appear in public spaces across the state.
