Benue Governor’s Aide Arrested Over Alleged Sextortion, Cyberbullying

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Makurdi have arrested Dr. Mkor Aondona, Special Adviser to the Benue State Governor on Documentation, Research, and Planning, over allegations of sextortion and cyberbullying.

Aondona was arrested on Friday, June 20, 2025, following complaints from several female students who accused him of sexual exploitation, online harassment, and blackmail.

According to the petitioners, the governor’s aide “routinely recruited slim and attractive girls for ushering jobs” and demanded sex in exchange for selection. One of the victims alleged that “he made it a condition that you had to sleep with him before getting the job.”

The complaints also stated that Aondona secretly recorded the sexual encounters and used the footage to pressure victims. “He would threaten to release the videos if you refused to sleep with him again,” a victim said.

Investigators said Aondona shared some of the explicit recordings via messaging platforms, and several of the clips are reportedly in circulation online.

The EFCC said he will be charged to court as investigations progress.

The agency called on anyone with more information to come forward.
