Iran has launched six missiles targeting US military bases in Qatar and Iraq in what it describes as retaliation for the recent US bombing of its nuclear facilities.
Loud explosions were reported in Doha following the attack, with missiles aimed at the US-run Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
Qatar’s Defence Ministry confirmed the incident, describing it as a “flagrant violation” of its sovereignty.
The ministry stated that its air defence systems successfully intercepted the incoming missiles, and no casualties or injuries were recorded.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed responsibility for the missile strike, calling it a response to what it termed “American aggression.” The IRGC said the operation was named “Annunciation of Victory” and was meant to send a strong warning.
Iranian state media outlet, Tasnim News Agency, quoted officials saying the attacks marked the beginning of a broader military response.
