Apply Now: FG Begins Recruitment for Prisons, Immigration, Others

The Federal Government has announced the commencement of a nationwide recruitment exercise for four paramilitary agencies under the Ministry of Interior.

The agencies involved are the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Federal Fire Service (FFS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Board (CDCFIB) disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja.

According to the Secretary of the Board, Major General (Rtd) Abdulmalik Jubril, interested applicants are expected to submit their applications through the portal provided on the board’s official website.

“Applications should be submitted online within three weeks from the date of this publication, and note that the application is absolutely free,” Mr Jubril said.

He warned that candidates must apply to only one agency, noting that “multiple applications will lead to disqualification.”

Mr Jubril explained that available positions cut across the superintendent, inspectorate, and assistant cadres in the four services.

“For Superintendent of Corrections (CONMESS 09), which is applicable to only NCoS, applicants must be holders of a Bachelor’s Degree (BSc) in Medicine and Surgery,” he said.

He added, “For Assistant Superintendent I (CONPASS 09), applicable to FFS only, applicants must be holders of Degree in Law or a BSc in any of the following: Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Water or any related field.”

“For Assistant Superintendent II (CONPASS 8), applicable to NSCDC, FFS, and NIS, applicants must possess a BSc or Higher National Diploma.”

On the inspectorate level, he said, “Applicants must be registered nurses or midwives for the position of Inspector (CONHESS 06),” adding that this position is open to NCoS, NSCDC, and FFS only.

He further said, “For Assistant Inspector (CONPASS 06), applicants must be holders of a National Diploma or NCE in any related field.”

For entry-level assistant roles, Mr Jubril stated, “For Assistant II (CONPASS 04), General Duty, applicants must be holders of GCE, Ordinary Level, SSCE/NECO or other equivalent with a minimum of five credits in not more than two sittings.

“For Assistant III (General Duty), applicants must be holders of GCE, O Level, SSCE/NECO or other equivalent with a minimum of four credits in not more than two sittings.”

He noted that applicants must be Nigerian, medically fit, possess the required educational qualifications, have no criminal or financial record, and must fall within the age range of 18 to 35 years.

In a related post on the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of the Federal Fire Service, the agency warned applicants to be cautious.

“Applicants are strongly advised to beware of fraudsters,” the post read.

The agency also emphasized, “The recruitment exercise is entirely free of charge, and no payment is required at any stage.”

Applications will open on Wednesday, June 26.
