2027: Peter Obi Visits Ex-AGF Malami a Day After Meeting Ex-Kano Governor Malam Shekarau

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on Wednesday met behind closed doors with former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, in Abuja.

The meeting was held at Malami’s private office. In a statement, Malami said the discussion focused on the country’s situation and the need for joint efforts to address Nigeria’s problems.

“This afternoon, I welcomed H.E Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State and Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, to my private office in Abuja,” Malami said.

He explained that the meeting was based on shared concerns about Nigeria’s direction.

“Our ongoing meeting reflects a shared concern for the future of our dear nation. At a time when unity, collaboration, and national purpose are more important than ever, it is encouraging to engage in meaningful dialogue with leaders from across the political spectrum,” he stated.

Malami also spoke about the need to move beyond political divisions.

“Nigeria belongs to all of us, and moments like this remind us that progress is only possible when we set aside differences and work together for the good of our people,” he added.

Obi’s visit to Malami came less than 24 hours after a similar meeting with former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, at his Asokoro residence.
