Tinubu Appoints Ex-APC Youth Leader Ismael Ahmed to Head CNG Project

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Barrister Ismael Ahmed as the Executive Chairman of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi), a program introduced after the removal of fuel subsidies.

The appointment was announced in a statement on Thursday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Barrister Ismael Ahmed as the Executive Chairman of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi),” Onanuga said.

He added that the initiative aims to “alleviate the effects of removing fuel subsidies by offering cheaper, more affordable, and cleaner energy options.”

Ahmed, 45, studied law at the University of Abuja and was called to the Nigerian bar in 2006. He also holds a master’s degree in international relations, communications, and diplomacy from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, USA.

From 2018 to 2022, he served as Senior Special Assistant to former President Muhammadu Buhari on the National Social Investment Program.

Onanuga stated that Ahmed “will coordinate the operations of the presidential initiative,” which forms part of Tinubu’s response to the hardship triggered by the subsidy removal.
